Booth The Warrior
March 5th, 2010 | by imber |Very few moments at a sporting event have the ability to take your breath away and cause goosebumps. Especially if we’re talking about live events involving the Florida Panthers.
However, if there is one player who can inspire that reaction, it’s the one that has been more dedicated to this franchise than anybody I can remember.
David Booth laid it all on the line last night, in what was probably the first fight of his career, to somewhat avenge the hit that altered his career and cost him the Olympics. Not much could make up for what happened, but this was certainly a step in the right direction.
It wasn’t much of a fight, but the message it sent was astronomical. Booth proved to have the heart of a warrior, much like Ville Peltonen did last season standing up to Evgeni Artyukhin, earning my eternal respect.
If only the Panthers could play the Flyers every night, they might have a chance to salvage the season. I haven’t seen Florida play as inspired as last night since, well, the last time they played Philadelphia.
The Panthers probably won’t even get close to the playoff picture again this season, but if they play like they did last night, things will at least be entertaining down the stretch.
